    This is my pandemic songbook. These songs are the gift I received from the year of isolation and shut-down; with a couple of exceptions they were all written between March 2020 and April 2021. Most of these songs were recorded in our home; they sound like me and Charlie singing at our kitchen table.

I wrote this in early April of 2020 during the "lockdown". I felt trapped and I wanted to escape - just drive away - but of course that wasn't an option. So I took my despair outside and lay down on the driveway .

Last night after dinner
I walked outside
I lay down on the driveway
and looked up at the sky

I lay down to give up
I lay down to say no
I wanted to escape
the driveway would not let go

I have a mind that thinks with time
an answer can be found
the driveway offered no solution
it offered the ground

It’s hard to pin down
what I looked up there to find
have you been lying in your driveway
searching for relief of some kind?

When I’d laid there long enough
to hold what I was feeling
I got up and thanked the driveway
for it’s healing

When I have to lie down
before I can get up again
the driveway can be
the perfect friend
